Welcome to Emma’s Little Corner!

About Us

Welcome to Emma’s Little Corner—a space inspired by love, resilience, and the journey of motherhood. I’m Joanna, the proud mom of Emma Rose and the heart behind this little corner of handmade treasures. Whether you're a new mom, navigating parenthood in your own unique way, or simply looking for something special, I’m so glad you’re here.

The Decision to Be a Single Mom by Choice

Choosing to become a mom on my own was a big decision that took years to make. I spent a long time wondering if I could do it, but the thought of motherhood never left my heart. I didn’t want to wait any longer, so I chose IVF with a sperm donor.

Every step felt like an affirmation of my dream to have a child, even if the road wasn’t easy. At times, the path felt daunting, but with each milestone, I felt more empowered.

Pregnancy Challenges: Bed Rest and Learning Patience

The pregnancy wasn’t as smooth as I’d imagined. Early on, I was diagnosed with a subchorionic hematoma, which can increase the risk of bleeding and other complications. Later, I also developed placenta previa, which meant that the placenta was lying low in the uterus and covering the cervix. Because of these complications, I spent most of my pregnancy on bed rest.

Bed rest was not easy, especially since I’m usually quite active, but it turned into a blessing in disguise. While it was frustrating at times, I used the hours of stillness to revive a hobby that had always brought me peace—crocheting. What started as a way to pass the time soon blossomed into a crochet business that I absolutely love! Those months allowed me to create things that I’m proud of, and I even made several special pieces for Emma, knowing she would soon be wrapped in my love—literally!

My Birth Story: Embracing the Unexpected

As my due date approached, I knew a vaginal delivery might not be possible with my placenta previa, but we remained hopeful. At 39 weeks, I went to the hospital ready to be induced, thinking I’d finally get to meet Emma the way I’d envisioned. But life had another twist in store for me! During the induction process, we discovered that Emma was in a transverse position, meaning she was lying sideways in the womb, making a vaginal birth impossible.

I was whisked away for an emergency C-section. Although it wasn’t what I’d planned, I knew that all that mattered was getting Emma here safely. The C-section experience was intense but also miraculous. I remember the moment they lifted her up—Emma Rose, my perfect little girl, with chubby cheeks and the sweetest cry. All the fears, worries, and challenges faded away as I held her for the first time. Nothing had gone according to plan, but everything was exactly as it was meant to be.

Life Now: Finding Balance and Embracing Joy

Now, as I sit here writing with Emma Rose by my side, I feel grateful for every twist and turn that brought us together. I may not have taken the traditional path, but my journey feels perfectly my own. Emma has filled my life with more joy and purpose than I could ever have imagined. Every day, I remind myself to be patient, to be flexible, and to keep faith in the journey.

Emma’s Little Corner is my way of sharing my story, offering support to other moms, and using my craft to spread some joy to others. Motherhood is a wild adventure—whether it’s planned down to every detail or full of surprises. I hope to share more stories, tips, and bits of encouragement for moms of all walks of life.

Thank you for joining me on this journey!

I can’t wait to see where motherhood takes us all next.
